Bespoke Joinery for Educational and Communal Spaces
Delivering high-quality, purpose-built joinery to support refined educational environments with a strong architectural presence.
Martek was appointed to deliver specialist joinery works at Downe House School, which was our first collaboration with main contractor Beard Construction. The project required carefully detailed joinery capable of performing across a range of formal and informal school environments, while maintaining a consistent material language throughout.
The scope included extensive veneered wall panelling to the auditorium, forming a key architectural feature of the space, alongside a bespoke library desk, door sets and a highly monolithic café installation. In addition, Martek produced poser tables and slatted screen elements directly for the school, providing flexible furniture and visual separation within shared areas. Each element was manufactured with a focus on durability, proportion and finish, suitable for daily use within a busy boarding and day school setting.
