Manufacture and installation of specialist healthcare joinery and fixed furniture within a major NHS hospital development.
To deliver specialist healthcare joinery that meets the stringent infection control and clinical performance requirements of a leading NHS neonatal facility.
Infection control was a critical driver throughout the construction of the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson (EGA) Wing at University College Hospital. Martek’s expertise in manufacturing high-quality joinery incorporating antibacterial materials and systems was a key factor in its appointment to the project.
The EGA Wing represents the final phase of the wider University College Hospital redevelopment and provides specialist neonatal services within the capital. Officially opened by HRH The Princess Royal, the £70m facility forms part of the wider £500m hospital development.
Building on the successful delivery of similar works within the main 20-storey hospital tower, Martek was commissioned to manufacture fixed furniture and complete the fit-out of the reception and nursing station areas, ensuring consistency of quality and performance across the campus.
